a mini book haul (#2)

Hi loves,

It was my 21st birthday in January and one of my gifts was a Waterstones gift voucher, I only recently got around to spending it but I’m really pleased with everything I got and so thought I’d do a little haul for you (because if you don’t like looking at books then…is everything okay)

Frida Kahlo Pin

Despite what I just said this actually isn’t a book…but I couldn’t resist it. Frida is my queen and I’m a sucker for pins so the two together were instantly the first thing I put in my basket, it’s so beautiful and I absolutely love the colours. My lil heart is so happy.

Pocket Frida Kahlo Wisdom

I was on a Frida spree as you can tell – this is a little pocket book filled with Frida’s words of wisdom and different inspirational things she’s said throughout the years, the book is split into different sections depending on what kind of quotes you’re looking for and the illustrations on the inside (which I wish I’d photographed) are absolutely beautiful, everything about this book is so bright and there are flowers all over it which makes me love it even more, if I was to make one little criticism it’s that I wished they’d included the unibrow on her but other than that, I’m absolutely in love.

Things I’m Seeing Without You
Peter Bognanni

This has actually been on my TBR for ages but I’ve never gotten around to buying it because quite frankly, I don’t think I’ve been at a stage where I’m emotionally stable enough to handle it yet. I’m still not emotionally stable enough to handle it and I know it’s going to do some damage but I went ahead and bought it anyway because I really want to read it (I think I need to brush up on my self care) – it keeps calling to me to be read but I’m still so nervous to pick it up (!!). I think this is one of those books that should be more popular than it actually is (though of course, I haven’t read it yet) but it seems to tick all the boxes for what makes a popular YA novel yet I haven’t seen that many people talking about it (maybe it’s just a hidden gem).

The Great Gatsby
F. Scott Fitzgerald

And last but not least, The Great Gatsby – I cannot believe I haven’t read this yet! I had a couple of pounds left to spend and this was £2.50 so I thought I’d buy it as I needed to get around to reading it (though I hate these types of covers so my heart did cry a little as I was making the purchase). I am currently in the process of reading this right now and no spoilers because I’ll have a review coming soon but I’m absolutely loving it. What a beautiful piece of literature.

The Book of Dust #1
La Belle Sauvage
Philip Pullman

I didn’t buy this one from Waterstones, this is just a separate book I ordered but I thought I might as well include it here anyway because I’m so eager to read it. This is another new trilogy on an expansion of Phillip Pullman’s His Dark Materials trilogy which, I haven’t read (please don’t kill me) but I did my research before buying the book and found out it won’t really matter to much if I haven’t read the preceding novels, it may spoil a few things for me but honestly I’m willing to take the risk because I’ve been wanted to buy this book for a while now. Also, look how gorgeous the cover is.

And there we have it!

Let me know if you’ve read / like any of these!

All my love,

Chloe .xx

  1. I’m so slow at reading but I’m also going to a book review soon. I love these posts so much 💗 Such great books! I would love to read the one of Frida Kahlo and also the Great Gatsby. I saw that movie and it was beautiful ❤️ You are making me curious.
