Music of the Month – May

Hi loves,

Here’s the music I’ve been loving in May!

dear society – madison beer

My girly did it again and released another banger. I seriously think Madison Beer is so underrated and I really like this song, also, she looks gorgeous as always.

nightmare – halsey

Halsey is a dream and this is one of my favourite songs that she’s released in a long time, it reminds me a lot of Pink and gave me serious Bandlands vibes (aka my favourite era) and these are the types of songs I wish more women in the industry created, I really love it. Dream woman.

doin time – lana del rey

This is actually a cover of Doin Time by Sublime but Lana really made it her own and I seriously love it. Everything about her just screams a nostalgic summer so this was the perfect song for her to cover and it really reminded me of the Born To Die era (aka, my favourite era in the history of anything ever). I’m obsessed.

mother tongue – bring me the horizon

This is such a weird song choice for me but I just happened to hear this on the radio and really liked it – BMTH are definitely not people I’d ever normally listen to but I wasn’t surprised when I searched the song up and realised it was them that was singing it. I really, really like it.

easier – 5sos

5SOS never fail to surprise me and their music just gets better and better. To have watched them since 2012 and see them as grown men now creating the type of music that they are and experimenting with new sounds and and styles etc. is really something. I really, really love this – another job so well done.

4U – prettymuch

I swear these guys appear in every single one of my music posts but they’re constantly releasing bops and I for one need to talk about them. They recently released their new EP Phases and while I could include all of the songs from there, this (minus Phases itself) is definitely my favourite one from the EP. It has a real Bruno Mars vibe and I just generally really love the sound of it, it’s true PM style.

pineapple skies – miguel

I fell back in love with this song again recently after I watched an acoustic version of it and it’s been stuck in my head ever since. Miguel continuously blows me away with his vocals and I forgot how good this song actually is. So good.

dress you up – madonna

Heard this on the radio and instantly it made its way onto my playlist. Who doesn’t love 80s Madonna. A queen.

if i can’t have you – shawn mendes

This might sound weird but I love the fact this song starts straight away and there’s no messing around with it – it’s a bop right from the get-go.

cool – jonas brothers

I was going to include this in last month’s playlist but didn’t feel like I liked it enough for it to be there, but this month it’s seriously grown on me and so here it is. The Jonas Brothers have the coolest sound (no pun intended).

Queen Bey finally released Lemonade on Spotify and I’ve been playing it non-stop since I had to break an arm and a leg to listen to it before. I’ve really been falling in love with her lately and realising how much of an amazing woman and artist she truly is. I watched Homecoming on Netflix and I feel like these past couple of weeks my life has literally just been Beyonce and nothing else. Here’s some Lemonade favourites that I’ve fallen in love with all over again recently.

all night – beyonce

formation – beyonce

hold up – beyonce

sorry – beyonce

white love – monsta x

Look at these CUTIES. I swear when I heard this I was like OK. OK. No need for you to be so cute. This song is so sweet. I’m soft.

magic shop – bts

Magic Shop and I had an emotional moment this month (post coming soon) so in the meantime I’ll just leave it here. When I listen to it I feel like all the air has been sucked out of my lungs.

everythingoes – rm ft. nell

I fell in love with mono all over again this month. I feel like sometimes you forget how good something is until you go back and re-live it all over again and honestly, mono is such a masterpiece. It still blows my mind how someone can create something so incredible. Anyway, I really love everythingoes, it’s so calming and beautiful. My motto for life.

highway to heaven – nct 127

They finally released the studio version !! I repeat. No more listening to the tinny live versions with fans screaming in the background. Praise the lord. Thank you. God bless.

insomnia – stray kids

I feel like this has been a recurring theme this month but I started listening to this song again after what had been a long time and was reminded of how good it actually is. I seriously haven’t stopped playing it, it’s so catchy and so good. I can’t believe I let this get lost in one of my playlists for so long!

baby don’t cry – exo

If this isn’t one of the best songs I’ve ever heard then I don’t know what is. Like, excuse me ??? I don’t even stan EXO but boy can they sing. This is SO GOOD. I’m absolutely obsessed. Wow wow wow.

chocolate – shinee

Angels of my little life, I was listening to the entire SHINee discography as you do and this popped up and just made me smile. It’s so catchy and I feel like it captures them perfectly, it’s just one of those songs where I’m smiling so hard and I’m like yep, that’s SHINee. The best.

Let me know if you like any of these!

All my love,

Chloe .xx

    1. I don’t think I’ve ever listened to a single song of theirs other than that one but I heard it on the radio and was like…I NEED to hear that again hahaha. My favourite song from War & Leisure 100% has to be I Told You So – such a bop !! I’m seriously so obsessed with it, Miguel never fails to amaze me.
I’ve actually never made that connection with PM so it’s weird you should say that hahaha, considering I’m a Kpop fanatic !! Their songs are all such bops and I really love the aesthetic they have going on, they had me hooked from the start! Deffo check them out .xx

  5. I love Halsey’s song!! And she reminds me of P!NK as well. P!NK is my favorite, lol! I love that both of them aren’t afraid to say what they feel. And they are true to themselves.

I literally just heard the Madonna song playing overhead at Dairy Queen when I took my girls for ice cream, lol. Weird! Definitely loved Madonna growing up. I always tell my girls she paved the way for artists like P!NK and Halsey, who my girls love.

Magic Shop is beautiful. It’s actually one of my girls’ favorite song and I had a shirt made for her with the title printed on it.

And you know how much we love Stray Kids around here! They actually performed Insomnia at the concert and it was awesome. Seeing as I struggle to sleep, it has a special place in my heart, lol.

Thanks so much for sharing these! I’ll have to look into the other songs you shared!

    1. Yes! Both such incredible women and artists. So strange that you heard Dress You Up hahaha, what are the chances?! A true 80s queen (aka, my fave).

I have a whole post about Magic Shop coming soon as I had such an experience with it lately I just had to write about it.

My friend went to a SKZ concert a couple of weeks ago and made sure she recorded Insomnia for me because it’s my fave SKZ song eeeever – it sounded so good live !! Wish I’d been there. I’m hoping they get over here soon so I can see them!

Thank you for reading as always xx
